BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — The COVID-19 surge continues in Western New York.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz sent out a tweet Saturday afternoon, announcing nearly 400 new cases of COVID-19 Friday.
That's the most cases in a single day since the pandemic began in March.
That's a daily positivity rate of 4.8% just in Erie County.
Meantime, 18 people died from the virus statewide on Friday, with three of them in Erie County and one in Allegany county.
New York State's overall infection rate is at 2.19%.
Here in all of Western New York it's back up to 4.3%.
