BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In a new Siena College poll out Tuesday morning, over a quarter of New Yorkers say they do not plan to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Seven percent of New Yorkers say they have already been vaccinated. Of those who have not, 69 percent say they plan to, but 27 percent say they do not. Many doubts about the vaccine come from how fast it was developed, but health officials assure the COVID vaccine went through the same vigorous authorization process all vaccines go through.

The same poll found that while 31 percent of New Yorkers think the worst of the pandemic is over, 55 percent beg to differ. The latter believe the worst is just yet to come. Nationwide, COVID numbers have been trending down after a post-holiday spike. But disease experts say the declining cases won't stick until heard immunity is achieved through the vaccine.
