A message on Girlscouts.org indicates girl scout troops everywhere have suspended door-to-door sales and cookie booths, leaving many stuck with their cookie stock.
"We were interrupted at the very beginning," explained Girl Scout Troop 70945 Troop Leader Wendy Haseley. "We would have had three weeks or more to finish our sales."
Haseley said some 1700 boxes of cookies worth roughly $8,500 are sitting in storage.
Proceeds from the cookie sales typically go to girl scout programs, experiences, and learning which is why she's asking someone in the community, like a business owner, to step in and help.
"We know everybody's hurting at this time, but if they could match up with a troop, it would help to get our cookies out there."
Once they receive a monetary donation, Haseley said the cookies won't go to waste.
"We will donate our cookies to another organization out there on the frontlines," she said.
