BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Kaleida Health has taken steps to prepare its hospitals should there be a surge in emergency department volume during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The tents, which would be used as triage tents if there was an increase in emergency department volume, have been set up outside Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Kaleida says Oishei Children's Hospital also has a tent ready if it is needed.
If the situation were to arise, the current emergency department waiting area would become a treatment space.
The tents would be fully functional with electricity, heat and workstations on wheels with a full staff as needed.
