BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Daily hospitalization rates continue a downward trend in Western New York.

According to the New York State Department of Health's tracking board, the total number of COVID-19 hospitalizations fell Monday for the seventh straight day to 138.

The total number of ICU patients dropped slightly, from 37 to 36.

In Erie County, COVID-19 discharges are once again exceeding admissions. Erie County had 122 COVID-10 patients in its hospitals on Monday, down from 149 a week ago and 186 two weeks ago, according to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.

Western New York entered phase two of the reopening process Tuesday. If numbers remain favorable, the region could move into phase three - which would allow bars and restaurants to reopen for seating - on June 16.
