Gov. Cuomo: New York employers need to reduce on-site workforces to 25%

Mandate does not impact essential services

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKBW) — Governor Andrew Cuomo is again announcing a mandated workforce reduction-- this time to 25%. While the 25% rule is a mandate, the state is also encouraging employers to have all employees work from home.

This comes a day after Governor Andrew Cuomo told employers to reduce on-site workforces by 50%. This is to try and slow the spread of coronavirus, which now sits at 4,152 in New York State.

This statewide mandate does not impact essential services.

What is considered an essential service?

  • Grocery Stores
  • Gas Stations
  • Cargo Carriers
  • Banks
  • Pharmacies
  • Utilities
  • Media
  • Shipping
  • Warehousing
  • Healthcare providers

In Erie County there are now 27 confirmed cases of the virus. Coronavirus has also been confirmed in Niagara, Genesee, Allegany, and Wyoming Counties.
