Allegany, Chautauqua, Genesee counties report first COVID-19 deaths

GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. (WKBW) — Three Western New York counties reported their first deaths Monday linked to COVID-19.

According to the Genesee and Orleans County Health Department, a person who died in Genesee County was over the age of 65 and had underlying health conditions.

As of Monday afternoon, 11 people had tested positive across the two counties and were in mandatory isolation. Thirty-seven people were under mandatory quarantine and 13 people were under precautionary quaratine.

In Allegany County, a person over the age of 60 with an underlying health condition has died of the virus. Five other people in the county have tested positive.

In Chautauqua County, a man in his 80s died after being hospitalized in Erie, Pennsylvania. Seven other people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county are recovering at home.
