ERIE COUNTY (WKBW) — Erie County officials announced further cancellations of COVID-19 vaccination appointments Tuesday.

Officials say due to lack of supply the following ECDOH PODs are canceled:

  • Friday January 29 at ECC South location.
  • Saturday January 30 at ECC North and South.

This impacts an additional 1,290 people. Those who have had their appointment canceled will be contacted by ECDOH for a spot at a future ECDOH site.

The county says it is no longer scheduling appointments into the future, it is working to reschedule canceled appointments first which could take about a month.

"We were ordered by the state to schedule out into the future, we did through the remainder of the month, and then the state cut back on our numbers and we had to cancel those appointments," said Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.

Poloncarz said the county's goal was to have ECDOH vaccination sites set up at ECC North, ECC south, the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center (which would be a large one) and also a mobile unit that would go to areas of concern such as the inner City of Buffalo and rural areas. Due to the lack of doses of the vaccine only the two ECC vaccination sites are open at this time.
