BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Louvienia Henderson of Buffalo is the sixth person in Erie County to die from the Coronavirus. But her friend of more than two decades, Melodie Baker, doesn't want her to become another number.

Henderson, whose nickname was Lou Lou, was described as a happy, healthy, vibrant person with a golden heart.

"Lou Lou was my friend. She's not the sixth person, she's Lou Lou," said Baker. "I hated to lose her this way. I wish I could have one more moment with her."

Baker said they both grew up together, went to church and sang in the choir together.

She said one of her fondest memories of her was singing with her on the Praise and Worship team, and not being able to get a certain line right. She admired Henderson's ability to make the choir director laugh after getting upset over the mistake.

"Lou Lou would always come up with a comment that was just so clever. No one could get mad everyone would just laugh," said Baker. "When things were tense, she'd say something and wanted to stay upset but you couldn't."

Henderson leaves behind three adult children. Baker said she found out on Sunday that Henderson's oldest daughter took her to the hospital.

Henderson passed away Friday morning.

"I did not expect her to pass. Lou Lou was young, she was [in her] early 40s," she said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover funeral expenses.
