BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Now to a push to provide free WiFi access to people who need it most here in Western New York.

One free access point was set up Saturday at the West Side Community Services on Vermont Street in Buffalo.

It was set up by volunteers with a Facebook group called WiFi Warriors.

Organizers say nearly 19% of people here in Western New York do not have access to the internet, but this makeshift hot-spot is designed to change that for people looking for services from home delivery, to telehealth services, and it's all done in a safe environment.

People can remain socially distant either in their vehicles, or at separate work stations.

Organizers plan to do this every Saturday from noon to 3 at West Side Community Services.
