Contract tracers: does your county have enough?

Western New York is one metric away from being able to begin phase one of the reopening process.

The missing metric deals with contact tracers.

Those are the professionals who track down who a positive COVID-19 had contact with prior to their diagnosis.

The state said each region must have 30 tracers per 100,000 residents.

WNY needs 521.

According to Gov. Cuomo, we were 352 short as of 5/17.

Here's where each county stands from what we’ve been able to track down so far:

Erie: 291 (only needs 276 based on the 30 per 100k formula)
Niagara: only has 22 out of "just over 60"
Cattaraugus: waiting for a response
Chautauqua: waiting for a response
Allegany: waiting for a response

We will update as information becomes available.
