KENMORE, N.Y. (WKBW) — Now that essential workers must wear masks on the job, the next step is making sure they have them. Colvin Cleaners on Elmwood Ave in Kenmore is stepping in to help fill the need.
“We want our customers and their families to feel safe, along with those on the front lines in many nursing and group homes and other non-profit agencies” says Paul Billoni, President and CEO of Colvin Cleaners.
Colvin is giving away these washable, reusable face masks for free to their customers, essential workers and non-profit agencies in WNY with a new "Get a Mask, Give a Mask" Program.
This time of year is when they run their Gowns for Prom program, but it was canceled due to COVID-19, which meant tailors and seamstresses were out of a job. This new program gives them their jobs back, making 200-300 masks daily.
“When times are tough, people show their true colors...so we were thinking, what else can we do for our community during this COVID-19 pandemic?” said Christopher Billoni, Vice President of Colvin Cleaners. “Now, with the “Get a Mask, Give a Mask” program, our family and Colvin Cleaners team have found another way help the WNY community during this time of crisis”.
With Governor Cuomo expanding the mask mandate to all New Yorkers, the Billoni's are expecting more calls for masks, but essential workers, customers and non-profits have priority.
“WNY is an incredible place, people are always looking to help out, so we’re trying to do our part and if people want to help as well, they can do it online,” said Christopher Billoni.
Masks are limited to two per household. If you can sew and would like to help, they're looking for volunteers.
Colvin Cleaners is still open, but they are encouraging all customers to use the free, no touch, pick up & delivery service to obtain their free masks, as well as their regular dry cleaning and laundry orders.
