CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY (WKBW) — Officials from Chautauqua County say the health department is monitoring a cluster of COVID-19 cases linked to social clubs in the north end of the county.
The Beaver Club in Fredonia was shut down Saturday for two weeks for deep cleaning and to ensure appropriate COVID-19 precautionary measures are in place. As of Tuesday afternoon officials said there were eight confirmed positive cases linked to that social club.
“Sporadic cases at various social clubs, especially in the north county, have been an issue but this is the first time we’ve seen cases from a single club reach cluster designation so rapidly,” Christine Schuyler, County Public Health Director, said Monday. “Clubs are not exempt from following the rules; members must work harder to protect one another.”
Officials say there have been 20 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 linked to other social clubs, 19 of those cases have recovered and one is currently active.
As of Tuesday afternoon county officials said there were 113 active COVID-19 cases in the county.
