Area charter schools go virtual for open enrollment lotteries

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) will be holding its annual Open Enrollment Lottery for the 2020-2021 school year on Friday, April 3, 2020 at 9 a.m. The event will be live streamed beginning at 9 a.m.

School leaders say the live stream is to reduce community contact while aiming to prevent to spread of COVID-19. The CSAT Enrollment Lottery will not be open to the public. Applicants can view the live stream by
clicking here.

Parents and guardians of accepted students will receive phone call and/or email by 11 a.m. the morning of the event. Acceptance letters will also be mailed on April 3.

Applicants not chosen for placement will receive a waitlist number. Waitlist letters will be mailed April 3.

On Tuesday, Persistence Prep, a K-8 College Prep Charter School in Buffalo announced a similar plan to go virtual for its upcoming lottery happening on April 2. According to a press release, all applied families are invited to attend the lottery virtually, by visiting the school's page on Facebook.

All children not immediately offered a seat will be placed on a waiting list. All families will be notified immediately following the lottery of their offer status
