BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Organizers for the 40th running of the Subaru 4-Mile Chase in Buffalo's Elmwood Village announced the event has been rescheduled due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

The 40th running is now set for July 16, 2021. For 2020, runners will have an opportunity to complete a 4-mile run between July 10 and July 16 for a chance at winning one of Subaru Chase’s Pink Flamingo Awards.

Runners interested in participating in the 2020 4-mile run can visit the event's website here.

"While disappointed to have to reschedule the 40th running, the overriding concern is the health and well-being of the participants, spectators, sponsors, and volunteers needed to present, coordinate, and participate in this event. We thank those involved for their consistent support and look forward to even greater involvement, support, sponsorship and success in 2021," organizers said in a release.

The 39th running of the 4-mile chase in 2019 included 1,400 entrants between the ages of 7 and 80.
