BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Niagara River Greenway Commission announced the 2020 Paddles Up at Beaver Island State Park has been canceled due to COVID-19.

Organizers say in its place will be a solo paddle event that will take place online called “Paddles Up Solo” where participants can post photos and videos of their adventure on area waterways.

A Facebook event has been created for the solo paddle which can be found here, it will take place from July 17 to July 31. Posting a photo or video of your adventure on the water to the Facebook event page will enter you into a random drawing for one of three prizes.

Organizers say kids can get involved too by by participating in a coloring contest sponsored by Rotary Club of Grand Island.

A Paddles Up coloring page will be in the Grand Island Dispatch or Pennysaver, you can send in your colored page to Niagara Frontier Publications by July 27 and the winners will be drawn by the end of the month.
