Jackhammers are pounding, roads are getting stripped and re-paved and commuters are "patiently" waiting to get past a mile long stretch of traffic on their way home.
Yes, it's construction season. And just like every year in Western New York, there are projects across the area that will slow you down on your way to your destination.
7 Eyewitness News has compiled a list of areas and roads to avoid this summer, if you can. The list contains roads that are already under construction or will soon become a construction zone.
Road:
- Eggert Road closed between Town of Tonawanda RT. 62 to Bailey Avenue. Estimated date of completion: May 6th
- Ellicott Road closed between New Armour Road in Orchard Park to Chestnut Ridge Road. Estimated date of completion: June 17th
- Elmwood Avenue lane restrictions during the weekday from Nottingham Terrance City to Iroquois Drive City. Estimated date of completion: June 4th
- 198 Eastbound Elmwood Avenue ramp closed. Estimated date of completion: June 4th.
- 198 Westbound Ramp to Elmwood Avenue is closed. Estimated date of completion: June 4th.
- Girdle Road in Elma between Clinton and Bullis Road will be closed. Estimated date of completion: September 30th.
- Goodrich Road in Clarence will be closed between Tonawanda Creek Road to Lapp Road. Estimated date of completion: July 29th.
- Goodrich Street in Buffalo will be closed between Main street to Ellicott Street. Estimated date of completion: December 2nd, 2016.
- I-290 Eastbound ramp to I-190 in Amherst will have lane restrictions. Estimated date of completion, July 31st.
- I-290 lane restrictions between Exit 3 in Amherst towards I-190 Town of Tonawanda. Estimated date of completion: October 31st.
- I-290 shoulder closed between Niagara Falls Boulevard Exit and Colvin Boulevard Exit 2.
- I-290 One lane closed between Two Mile Creek Road and Exit 2 On Colvin Boulevard. Estimated date of completion: December 31st.
- I-290 Westbound Delaware Ave ramp closed. Estimated date of completion: December 31st.
- I-86 Eastbound left lane will be closed between Exit 13 in Town of Ellicott to Exit 14 in in Town Of Poland. Estimated date of completion: July 15th.
- I-86 Westbound left lane will be closed between Exit 21 in Salamanca to Exit 24 in Town of Allegany. Estimated date of completion: September 30th.
- I-90 Eastbound/ Westbound lane restrictions between Williamsville Tolll Plaza to Exit 51 in Cheektowaga. Estimated date of completion: April, 29th.
- I-90 Southbound Ramp between Massachussetts Avenue and Peace Bridge Plaza. Estimated date of completion: June 30th.
- I-190 Exit 9 Peacebridge Northbound right shoulder closed.
- Jamison Road will be closed between Girdle Road in Elma to Two Rod Road. Estimated date of completion: September 30th.
- Lein Road lane restrictions on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Schultz Road in Town in West Seneca to Seneca Street. Estimated date of completion: September 30th.
- Peace Bridge Plaza Construction. Estimated date of completion: Summer 2017.
- Porter Avenue lane restrictions in Buffalo between DAR Drive City to Fourth Street. Estimated date of completion: July 1st.
- 219 lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. between 417 town of Carrollton to South Nine Mile Road. Estimated date of completion: May 27th.
- 219 Lane Restriction between Route 39 in Springville to Peters road in Ashford. Estimated date of completion: August 31st, 2017.
- Robert Moses Parkway will be closed between Old Stone Chimney and Fourth Street. Estimated date of completion: Four to six weeks.
- Route 240 lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in West Seneca between Indian Church Road and Route 16. Estimated date of completion: December 31st.
- Route 265 Northbound right lane will be closed in Town of Tonawanda between Waverly Avenue and Merle Drive. Estimated date of completion: September 1st.
- Route 384 Northbound in Town of Tonawanda right lane will be closed between Knoche Road and Crestmount Avenue. Estimated date of completion: September 1st.
- Route 400 Bridge over Harlem Road in West Seneca. Estimated date of completion: Fall 2016.
- Route 78 Northbound lane restrictions in Town of Lockport from Tonawanda Creek Road to Hamm Road. Estimated date of completion: November 26th.
- Tonawanda Creek Road in Town of Clarence will be closed between Northfield Road Town to Transit Road. Estimated date of completion: December 31st.
