An employee of United Stones International was injured late Monday morning when a slab of granite fell while being unloaded.

The accident happened as the 24-year-old man was delivering the granite to The Granite Shop on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls. Deputies say he was unloading a 1,200-pound slab of granite when it broke free from the mount.

Though the worker partially jumped out of the way, he was struck and knocked unconscious. He was flown to ECMC by Mercy Flight with back and leg injuries.
