As police work to curb gun violence in Buffalo, local residents are also joining in the fight.
Some community members met up at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on Thursday to organize an upcoming event called "Taking It to the Streets."
The 28th annual event looks to raise awareness, cooperation and promote education.
"You'll be taught how to avoid negatives if they come your way," said Anita Williams, founder of the event. "There's trouble everywhere. I know we hear about Buffalo, but there's trouble all over the world, and we're coming against that."
"Taking It to the Streets" is set for the weekend of August 20.
