Buffalo’s waterfront will soon be host to a 3,400 ton Navy ship and its crew for a week-long commissioning celebration.
The USS Little Rock LCS 9 is one of the US Navy’s newest ships, and it is scheduled to arrive at Canalside in the spring of 2017.
The new warship designed to sail in shallow, coastal waters will be commissioned next to a decommissioned ship of the same name.
It will feature a helicopter launch pad and a ramp for small boats.
This will be the first time in the 240-year US Navy history that a new ship is commissioned alongside its namesake.
