Cleveland Sports Radio Host, Kevin Kiley is receiving a lot of backlash on social media for his rant against the Bills' decision to hire Kathryn Smith.
“If you have 10 men on special teams, eight of them will be mumbling under their breath. It's counterproductive,” Kiley said Thursday morning.
Why? Because she's a woman.
“This is the old conversation we had about women voting for the Hall of Fame. It's absurd,” Kiley said. “Do you really want your determination, whether you make the hall of fame… do you really want a woman to have a vote on that who has never played the game?”
Kiley’s rant went on for 10 minutes Thursday morning during his radio broadcast on 92.3 “The Fan”. Most Buffalo Bills fans found his comments downright derogatory. “I think if she's competent, the players will follow her lead,” said Arthur Baumeister.
“Well, there was no place for blacks in baseball until Jackie Robinson broke the barrier. Really. If she's got the chops, let her do the job,” added Ben Fitt.
In fact, we couldn't find a single fan who would say otherwise. Most agree even though the jury's still out on Kathryn Smith, they're willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. “Maybe we will get into a playoff this fine year. We can only hope. It might take a woman's touch,” said Rick Beall.
We reached out to the station’s program director for comment. We haven’t heard back.
