Work on a major Buffalo redevelopment project is moving forward. Crews have started cleaning up the old AM&A's as work begins to convert the former department store into a Wyndham Hotel and banquet facility.
John Schenne, the local project manager, tells 7 Eyewitness News that workers have begun remediation work at the Main Street landmark. Once that is finished crews will begin the renovation phase.
When its all said and done the 10-story building will be a full service 340 room hotel that includes two restaurants, a banquet facility and meeting space.
Landco H&L, the company that owns the building, also operates a tour company that caters to Chinese tourists. The plan is to market the hotel to visitors from China who are visiting Niagara Falls.
The goal is for construction to be completed by December of 2017.
