The Chippewa Alliance is looking to spread the holiday cheer in Buffalo’s Entertainment District with a two-day series of events to celebrate the holiday season.

Local businesses on Chippewa Street and a few on Franklin will hold a tree trimming contest, with decorations, including lights, trees, and wreaths, which will be in place by Wednesday night.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. on December 5 with happy hour. That night, visitors to Chippewa can receive a Holiday Stamp Card to track each stop on the strip. Participants will be entered for a chance to win a series of prizes, including a night out for two in downtown Buffalo.

The holiday fun continues Saturday, where at noon a “Beer Tap Takeover” will begin at various bars and restaurants. High school students from Hutch-Tech will play holiday music throughout the early afternoon.

You can help pick the business that did the best job trimming the tree by using the hashtag #CheeronChippewa on social media.

The Chippewa Alliance encourages everyone to come out for Holiday Cheer on Chippewa, but reminds everyone to enjoy the festivities responsibly.
