Children's Museum receives $6M donation

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation has announced a $6,000,000 donation to the Explore & More Children's Museum.

Museum reps say one half of the donation will support the new children's museum building along the Canalside district. The other half "will be allocated to an endowment fund that will help to ensure Explore & More’s future sustainability."

A soft opening for the new museum is scheduled for later this year. The project is expected to bring an estimated 250,000 new visitors annually to Canalside and WNY's waterfront.

The Explore & More will be renamed The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum.

“This generous donation by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation will expand exhibits and programs for students at the Explore & More Children’s Museum, providing critical learning opportunities for young people,” said Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul. “The expansion project continues the waterfront development of the Canalside district and is yet another investment that is helping to shape the new Buffalo.”
