A Perry mother has been locked up on child endangerment charges after her two young children were found roaming the streets alone.
Police say 23-year-old Stephany Landcastle was asleep in her apartment while her children were outside searching for food because there was none at home. Investigators say the apartment was packed with garbage and clothes.
Landcastle was found sleeping on a mattress in the living room, according to officers. Landcastle told police she locked the front door before falling asleep and her one of her daughters said she unlocked the door to go out and look for food.
Landcastle was arrested on child endangerment charges. She's due back in court next month.
Child Protective Services was contacted.
