Cheektowaga man pleads guilty in fatal hit and run crash

The Erie County District Attorney office announced 37-year-old Paul Hintermeier has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

According to police, on August 11th, 2017, the Cheektowaga man, was driving on Richard Drive in the Town of Cheektowaga, when he ran a stop sign turning onto Shanley Street, hitting a bicyclist. Hintermeier had a BAC level of .16, which is twice the legal limit,

The victim was 18-year-old Damian Garra of Cheektowaga, who later died.

Hintermeier faces up to 11 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, February 6th.
