A Cheektowaga man plead guilty Monday morning to attempting to possess child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
U.S. Attorney James Kennedy says the charge carries a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Andrew Reiner, 29, began communicating with a 15-year-old girl through cell phone apps called Kik and Skout, according to officials. When he found out the girl's age he texted her messages in a sexual nature in order to entice her into sexual activity, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Officials say Reiner convinced the victim to sneak out of her home late at night to meet him for sexual activities more than once. Officials also report Reiner tried to get the girl to ask her friends to participate.
Between June 2016 and July 2016, Reiner asked the victim to send him sexually explicit photographs, according to authorities.
Reiner is scheduled to be sentenced on August 30.
