Cheektowaga home collapses as firefighters battle two-alarm fire

Posted

Cheektowaga police are investigating a two-alarm fire that caused a vacant two story home to collapse early Friday morning.

Firefighters with the Cleveland Hill Fire Department arrived on the scene at 3:30 a.m. on Oehman Boulevard in Cheektowaga. They were quickly joined by fire companies from surrounding areas, because flames had spread through the entire building.

Conditions at the scene forced firefighters to battle the flames from a defensive position, staying outside the house and keeping an eye on potential spreading. That meant firefighters were safely outside the structure when it eventually collapsed. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. The investigation has been turned over to the Cheektowaga Police Department.
