A Chautauqua County sheriff's deputy is recovering from a neck injury after a head-on collision on Friday morning around 9 at Straight and Center roads in the Town of Sheridan.
The deputy had to be flown by helicopter to Erie County Medical Center.
The damaged sheriff's vehicle was located on Center Road while the other vehicle, also heavily damaged, was on Straight Road. The driver of the second vehicle involved was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk for minor injuries.
New York State Police, Chautauqua County Emergency Medical Services and the Sheriff's Department were all at the scene of the accident. Police are still looking into the cause of the crash.
