There will soon be more meat on the table in the Elmwood Village.

Charlie the Butcher plans to open a new location at 770 Elmwood Avenue this fall. The space was most recently home to Jimmy John's, which closed in December.

A staple of Western New York's food scene for decades, Charlie the Butcher - which is owned by its namesake Charlie Roesch - has carved itself quite a reputation. In addition to locations in Williamsville and inside the Ellicott Square Building in Downtown Buffalo, it also has express stops inside NOCO locations in Williamsville, East Aurora and Orchard Park.

Charlie's famous cooked roast beef is also sold in local supermarkets and is available through the company's catering business based in Cheektowaga.

The new location will provide a much-needed shot in the arm to the Elmwood Village. The business district has seen a number of shops and restaurants close in recent months, with some owners opting to take their business to Hertel Avenue instead.
