New census figures show there are fewer people living in Western New York.

The figures estimate Western New York’s largest county, Erie County, lost 615 more people than it gained last year, while 765 people moved out of Niagara County.

This is the 6th straight year of decline in Niagara County and the first drop in four years for Erie County.

The overall metro area is home to more than 1.1 million people.

The Census Bureau will release specific numbers for cities and towns in May.
