Car crashes, bursts into flames on UB's South Campus

A suspect is in custody after a car crash on University at Buffalo's South Campus following a police chase.

The crash happened Tuesday afternoon and left the car in flames.

UB says no one was injured during the incident, which began around 4:15 p.m. at the Boulevard Mall when Amherst Police chased the car.

Police say they chased the suspect to UB's South Campus, where he drove across sidewalks near Squire Hall. The suspect eventually crashed into a parked delivery truck at a loading dock for Cary, Farber and Sherman Halls, according to UB Police.

Police say The suspect's car was in flames and the Buffalo Fire Department responded to the scene. The car was heavily damaged, but there was no damage to nearby buildings or the delivery truck, according to officials.

UB Police reassure students and staff that there is no immediate danger to the campus community.
