A man who was sought for questioning in connection with an assault was arrested after leading Niagara County Sheriff deputies on a car chase Thursday evening.
Deputies say they tried to stop Jeffrey Brown, 49, on Ward Road in Wheatfield but say he took off. The chase ended when Brown's car overturned in the woods off Whitmer Road.
Brown was taken into custody and charged with third degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, resisting arrest, second degree obstruction of governmental administration, second degree assault, and numerous vehicle and traffic charges. The investigation into the assault is ongoing and he may have additional charges.
Brown was arraigned in the Town of Pendleton Court and is due in the Town of Wheatfield Court next week.
He is being held without bail.
