Canadian man pleads guilty in deadly Lancaster hit-and-run

A Canadian man pleaded guilty Wednesday to leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death, according to prosecutors.

32-year-old Sebastien Lavertu of Quebec admitted to hitting and killing 28-year-old Ryan Johns of Depew, and then driving away. This happened on June 21 at the intersection of Broadway and Pavement Road in Lancaster.

Police used video from several sources to identify Lavertu's tractor-trailer, and he was arrested when is damaged truck was spotted crossing from Quebec into New York at the Champlain Port of Entry.

Lavertu is set to be sentenced on October 18 at 9:30 a.m.
