Buy one hat or jacket, give one to a refugee in Buffalo

As you're doing your holiday shopping, we've got an opportunity to buy a gift, and give another.  Local multimedia company Rise Collaborative is selling Buffalo-themed hats, sweatshirts and jackets with messages like "All Equal" and "You Belong".

You can buy one, and you can pick an item to buy for a local refugee.  Last year, Rise only sold hats.  They sold 440, and gave away another 440.  They say it made a huge impact in the community, so they wanted to bring the sale back.

"We saw parents and children wearing them around the street, and we're wearing them too, and our customers are wearing them," said Rise Collaborative Managing Director Kevin Heffernan.  "You Point to each other's hats, wave, introduce yourself.  In wearing the same apparel that shares the same message, there's solidarity there.  It breaks down barriers."

This year, Rise Collaborative is working with Jericho Road to distribute the hats, sweatshirts and jackets to refugees.
