The beginning of a hotel project in Batavia looks more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa after high winds rolled through Western New York overnight.
The hotel is being built as part of a $7.5 million project at Batavia Downs. The four-story, 84-room hotel is scheduled to open this spring and the structure you see in the photo is scaffolding that was erected for a stair tower. So far, nothing has actually been built.
Officials say the scaffolding is anchored to 6,000 pounds of concrete, so there is no danger of it falling. Though it's leaning, it will be righted and shouldn't cause any delays with the ongoing construction.
