Bouncers now must have City of Buffalo license

Posted

Bouncers will now have to be licensed and display an ID to work in the City of Buffalo.

The Common Council unanimously passed an ordinance Tuesday for the new requirement. It requires bouncers to be licensed with the city with a renewal every three years and also to wear an ID that is visible to customers.

The measure applies to employees at any business where alcohol is sold and who spend 50 percent or more of their time providing crowd control, protection or security.

If a bouncer has been licensed by the state, they would not have to go through the application process with the city, according to the Buffalo News, but would still have to register with the city.
