The school year is just around the corner and excited little preschool and kindergarten students are learning the ins and outs of school bus safety before their big first day.
Families of new preschool and kindergarten students gathered at Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing arts Saturday morning to familiarize themselves with the school bus the students will ride and its safety rules.
The newest additions to the Buffalo School District also had the chance to meet the Safety Dog at the event sponsored by First Student, the bus transportation provider for the Buffalo Public Schools for the past 35 years, with more than 700 buses transporting 20,000 students each day.
Safety Dog used fun and interactive ways to teach the bus riding basics. School bus drivers and bus aides were also available to answer any questions, and the buses ran a short route so that parents and their students could experience the first bus ride together.
