A Buffalo woman may not see freedom again until 2038.

Debra Haynes-Thomas, 48, was sentenced Friday to 22 years in prison for beating her boyfriend to death.

Haynes-Thomas pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges back in March. She admitted to arguing with 56-year-old Peter Wiepert in his home on Princess Drive in November of 2015, then, as he was falling asleep she hit him several times with a ceramic statue.

After serving her sentence, Haynes-Thomas faces five years post-release supervision. She will then be deported back to her native country of Trinidad.
