Buffalo Public Schools released a suspicious person warning to students and families Friday afternoon.
A spokesman for the district sent an email to parents to inform them a man followed a female student on the lower west side Friday morning.
The man was possibly Latino, 5-feet-5-inches to 5-feet-seven-inches tall, heavy set with brown hair and a thin beard.
The student reported that the man was following her on foot from the intersection of Niagara and Virginia Streets to Maryland Street. He was wearing a waist-length brownish-grey coat.
The district is asking parents to share this man's description with their children while taking the time to talk about avoiding strangers.
This incident has been reported to Buffalo Police.
