BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo Police officer was among those injured in a serious lunchtime crash.

Crews were called to the scene at the intersection of Main Street and Benwood Avenue just before 12:40 pm on Wednesday.

According to Buffalo Police, five people in total were injured, including a 29-year-old woman. Investigators say the female pedestrian is currently in critical condition at ECMC. A second pedestrian wasn't seriously injured. Two people in a separate car and the Buffalo Police officer were also injured, but not seriously.

Police say the officer involved, a three year veteran of the force, was responding to a knife call at the time of the crash. That officer is said to be cooperating fully with the investigation.
