BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - More than a dozen kids from the inner city had the chance to go to the Bills game with Buffalo Police Officers Thursday.
It's all part of a new, aggressive initiative by Buffalo Police to connect the community and police, and bridge the gap.
"They see that we're regular people," said Buffalo Police Captain Steven Nichols.
Nichols and his team hit the pavement, talking to kids and adults in the inner city.
"They don't just see us running from call to call to call," he said. "We actually hang out."
This is just one of many efforts put forth this summer by the Buffalo Police Neighborhood Engagement Team.
Kids we talked to say they now look at police not only as role models but friends.
