A Buffalo cop has been convicted of driving drunk and crashing into a car at Allen and Main Street in the city.

Around 9 p.m. on March 4th, Dave Rodriguez, a 23-year veteran of the force who is a member of the accident investigation unit, crashed into a car that was waiting for the light to turn green at Allen. The accident caused minor damage.

Rodriguez was off-duty at the time and refused all sobriety tests. However, he was convicted Wednesday of driving while ability impaired after a non-jury trial.

He was given a condition discharge, requiring him to live a law abiding life for one-year. His driver's license was also suspended for 90 days.

Rodriguez is currently suspended from the force with pay while the case is investigated by Internal Affairs.
