During Thursday's State of the City address, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced that Buffalo Police officer Craig Lehner has been posthumously promoted to Lieutenant.
Lehner did not resurface during a routine training mission last October in the Niagara River near Unity Island.
Mayor Brown also announced that in May, the Buffalo Police K-9 training facility on Louisiana Street will be renamed in honor of Lehner.
Also, Shield, officer Lehner's K-9 companion, has found a new partner within the Buffalo Police Department.
