Buffalo Police are investigating a report of a man in the Niagara River overnight.
Police say a report came in around 3:30 a.m. of a man in the river near Bird Island. According to officers, witnesses say people attempted to rescue the man from the water by throwing a two by four into the water, but were unsuccessful.
The Buffalo Police Underwater Recovery Team was at the scene shortly after.
Police say they searched the water for about six hours and will resume efforts tomorrow.
