Allen Bialek is a Vietnam veteran who loves his country.
“When I see that flag every day, in my community and in my neighborhood and in my country, it reminds me that, every day, that individuals sacrificed for me,” said Bialek.
Bialek wants to make sure other people truly understand the sacrifice military men and women make. So, he travels to schools, mostly in his current state of Michigan, and makes presentations.
Wednesday, he was sharing his presentation in the hangar of the Buffalo Naval Park to friends and family. His desire to teach younger generations about veterans started because of one specific conversation.
“My godson came up to me, he was 8 years old, and said Uncle Al, ‘what is a veteran?’” recalled Bialek.
Now, he educates students about war heroes like, Audie Murphy. He was one of the most decorated soldiers in U.S history.
“We're all here because somebody sacrificed for us,” said Bialek.
