Who says marathon weekend is only for humans?
Organizers of the Buffalo Marathon are ushering in something all new for 2018: the Ruffalo Stampede. But have no fear. The Stampede isn't a race that will turn your cool pooches into hot dogs on Memorial Day weekend. It's a flat, 1K course for dogs of all shapes, sizes and athletic abilities.
The cost is $20 per dog, and each participant must be on a leash with their handler by their side.
The event, which will take place on Saturday, May 26th, will honor late Buffalo Police Officer Craig Lehner and his K9 partner Shield.
Each participating dog will receive a Ruffalo medal and bandana.

The Buffalo Marathon takes place the following day, on May 27th, through the streets of Buffalo.
