Buffalo man sentenced on meth charge

The U.S. Attorney's office announced today that 50-year-old David Young was sentenced to 30 months in prison. The Buffalo native was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Officials said Cheektowaga police conducted a traffic stop of the subject's vehicle and saw a syringe in the driver's seat after he was asked to exit. During the traffic stop, Young told the officer the vehicle was a rental, but the offier discovered he was not authorized to drive the vehicle.

Young was arrested and during a search of the vehicle, the officer recovered about 325 grams of methamphetamine in the truck. The officer also found a FedEx shipping label for 79 North Ogden, which was Young's residence.

Young was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.
