The Erie County District Attorney's office announced today Eddie Fields has been sentenced to nine years in prison for possessing fentanyl.
The 45-year-old Buffalo resident pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree back in June.
In April, Erie County Sheriff's detectives honored a search warrant signed by an E.C. Court Judge to search an apartment located at 28 Williamstown Ct. in the Town of Cheekotwaga for illegal narcotics. During the raid, officials found Fields in possession of a large amount of fentanyl.
Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, has been the driving force behind opioid-related deaths spiking in Erie County and across the nation.
