A Buffalo man was arrested on multiple felony charges Friday after he allegedly attempted to defraud the unemployment system.

Patrick Michalak, 44, is charged with one count of third degree insurance fraud and 39 counts of first degree offering a false instrument for file after State Police say an investigation revealed that Michalak filed for unemployment 39 times while having employment. Michalak allegedly received just under $4,000 illegally as a result of his claims.

Michalak was processed at State Police barracks in Fredonia and will appear in the City of Dunkirk Court at a later date to answer charges.
